We always hear ourselves complaining about not having enough time – not having enough time to finish a project, for work, or for family. There’s just never enough time. We feel like it’s a curse brought upon us to make life harder. But in reality, we are the problem.

Time is always constant and will forever remain that way. It is up to us to change our ways so we can be able to make the most out of the time we have. This is of course easier said than done, especially when you’re used to not managing your time. But this is not an impossible task. This is just another challenge or stepping stone for you in becoming the person that you want to be.

Start by writing down your priorities. What needs to be done now and what can wait. This way, you will be able to identify what needs your most urgent attention. Divide your list into two sections, one for goals and another for urgent tasks. Before moving on, let us first define what a goal is and what urgent tasks are.

Goals are something important that you have wanted to accomplish for a long time. It can be many things such as writing a book, travelling the world or donating a large sum of money to your favourite charitable institution. Urgent tasks on the other hand are ones that need to be completed immediately. These can be an ordinary task such as buying your weekly groceries or paying your bills. Anything that has to be done now is urgent.

If you have a team of people doing tasks for you, be assertive on the deadlines. This way, you won’t end up having to chase them up for every task. Also, remember to give complete and easy to understand instructions when you delegate tasks to avoid confusion. One thing that can really distract you from your goal is having to micromanage. Micromanaging takes away a lot of your valuable time. Instead of overseeing the big picture of the business, you are forced to manage every employee that you have and that in itself is unhealthy for your goal. Always have time for your employees or the people under you to report their accomplishments, questions or problems. This way, you’ll know everything that’s going on without having to micromanage them.

Check your list from time to time to see where you are and if you’re on schedule. Keep in mind that there are may be times when certain circumstances happen and it could distract you from our main goal. It’s alright. These things happen. At the end of the day, you just have to keep a positive attitude and push forward. With the help of PD Training in Hong Kong, you will surely succeed and become the person you’ve always aspired to be.
